How a Hypnotherapy Session works

 If you've never experienced hypnotherapy before, it's completely natural to wonder what it involves,

 and whether it will feel right for you.


Hypnotherapy is a gentle, guided process that helps you relax both your mind and body, moving into a calmer, more focused state of awareness. You might recognise this feeling already, such as when you're daydreaming, absorbed in a book, or drifting off to sleep. In this relaxed state, your mind becomes more open and receptive, and this is where change begins.


Rather than relying on willpower alone, hypnotherapy works with the part of your mind responsible for habits, emotional responses, and deeply held patterns. Using calming guidance and imagery, we gently quieten the mental noise, release unhelpful patterns, and begin building more supportive ways of responding.


What to expect in a session

We begin by simply talking — giving you space to share what's been going on and what you'd like to change. There's no pressure, no judgement, and no need to have the 'right' words.


When you're ready, I'll guide you into a state of deep relaxation. It's not a strange or unfamiliar feeling , but more like settling into a comfortable calm where your body feels heavy and at ease, and your mind becomes quieter and more focused. Some people feel very present throughout; others notice their mind wandering gently. Both are completely normal.


You are always aware, always in control, and always able to come out of the relaxed state at any time. There is no 'losing control',  only a gentle shift into a calmer, more receptive place. Many clients leave feeling lighter, clearer, and deeply relaxed, often carrying a sense of calm with them long after the session ends.


Because so many challenges share the same underlying patterns, hypnotherapy can support a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, phobias, sleep difficulties, confidence, IBS, and menopause symptoms. At its core, it's simply a way of helping your mind and body find a calmer, more balanced way of responding.

For those who'd like to meet in person, I offer face-to-face sessions at Restore Wellbeing, in two relaxing locations in Norfolk and Suffolk: 

  • Diss (close to the Norfolk/Suffolk border) 
  • Ixworth (near Bury St Edmunds). 

Each session is held in a calm, welcoming environment, fully tailored to your needs.


If you'd prefer to work from home, my online sessions via Zoom are flexible, effective, and available to clients across the UK. Online therapy works beautifully for anxiety, phobias, menopause support, and much more, and many clients find that the privacy and comfort of their own space helps them relax even more deeply.
