There are two main categories of phobia:
Specific Phobias
These revolve around a specific trigger. The trigger might be a situation, place, object, animal, or activity. These types of phobia generally begin in childhood. As a person gets older the phobia may become less pronounced, but for some people, symptoms can intensify as they get older.
Common specific phobias include:
Complex phobias
Complex phobias are not specific to any one thing. They normally develop in adulthood and are generally linked to anxiety about a particular situation or circumstance. The most common complex phobias are social phobia and agoraphobia
Some people manage their phobias by avoiding the stimulus, and changing their behaviours, decisions and lifestyle to avoid the object of their fear.
However, there is no need to live like this. Fears and phobias exist in the subconscious mind and are learned responses. This makes them vulnerable and very treatable with hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy for phobias is an effective approach that works to communicate with the subconscious mind and changes the way you feel and react to your phobia.
When you are free of your fears and phobias, you will not have to plan your life around avoiding certain situations - you will be relaxed and confident in situations which used to put you on edge. You can be spontaneous and engage in unplanned activities and you'll feel safe and happier in the world.
Each hypnosis session is tailor-made for you - I work collaboratively with my clients to identify their goals and develop a personalised treatment plan.
Following the initial consultation, my clients typically require 3 (or 4) hypnotherapy sessions to treat their phobia However, the number of sessions you require will depend upon your needs and circumstances.
Listening to the pre-recorded sessions I provide, and practising the self-hypnosis techniques I teach you are effective ways to continue boosting your progress between sessions.
